As entrepreneurs, we know that things tend to never go according to plan, which is one of the reasons we joined forces with Inslee Fariss on our Day Planners! We had such a great response to our initial run last year, so we were super excited to bring them back – especially for all those who didn’t get the chance to purchase one in 2017.
For those of you who don’t know, we attended the same college as Inslee, and like many, have always admired her fashion illustrations. She’s incredibly creative, and we’ve always envied her artistic ability when putting pen to paper. While we’re not artists ourselves, we’ve found that our overall aesthetic aligns with Inslee’s work, and since her customers had been clamoring for an agenda, we jumped at the opportunity to create a chic, leather exterior to protect and showcase her beautiful work.
Quote: On my agenda – “A trip to India for a little bit of work and a little bit of pleasure, a wedding, and sourcing new materials.” – Neely
We’re big believers in collaboration and working with industry experts, so most, if not all, paper decisions came from Inslee. One detail we loved in particular for the 2018 illustrations was her focus on creating one girl per month. Each drawing distinctly embodied the style and spirit of its respective month and season. The sketches really jump off the page, so much so, we’re inspired to look just as chic and pulled together as our calendar girl counterpart.
Quote: On my agenda – “I have the NYC Marathon coming up! And our new store opening in Atlanta.” – Chloe
When it comes to the technical aspects of the planner, this year we decided to increase the weight of the divider pages to increase durability throughout the year. For the leather exterior, we wanted to create something that almost looked like a handbag if you were going to carry it on it’s own – something beautiful, simple, and understated. The gold latch functions as a closure and is created from the same mold as some of our handbag closures. We designed a more substantial interior pocket for notes and papers and also wanted to create a space to store a credit card or subway pass. Finally – would a planner be complete without a spot for your favorite pen (or – if you’re Neely – pencil)? Check, check, and check!
Even in a digital age, the act of physically writing everything down helps us stay on top of everything we’ve got coming up. We also love the monthly layout as it allows us to have a clear sense of the busier times of the year and keep an eye on any opportunities for some downtime. Now that we’ve shared a little glimpse at what we’ve got coming up, we want you to spill your plans with us too!
